The House of the Lord

Today I had the privilege of going to the St. George temple. I have been dying to go for a couple weeks now and I finally made the time to go. It was needed greatly and I was lucky enough to spend some quality time with a great friend and roommate Jade Harris (and yes we call each other by our full names all the time). Don't worry we always take pictures this awkward. Oh how I love this place!

We also as roommates decided to do what we like to call "roommate Easter". We included this with conference weekend for  a couple different reasons. We had to stuff our eggs for the Easter Bunny to hide in the morn.....yay!

300 eggs later.................
:-)

As long as it runs....

Here I am admitting willingly that I know nothing about cars. I am a car retard. Yep you read that correctly. Over Spring Break my patient father tried to teach me a thing or two about my car and it was a wonderful adventure for us both. While in this lesson I learned that I needed to get an oil change when I got back to Cedar so yesterday I drove down to the local Wal-mart's and I got Thelms (thats my car if you was wonderin) some brand spankin new oil to run on....well technically the handy people at the oil and lube express did, but I like to think I did something by driving her down there.

The point of the story is that I learned something from a dear dear friend, Ashlee Rose Adkins, that doesn't take the priesthood to accomplish. So this morn I changed my......

ALL BY MYSELF!  (if anyone is wondering...this is an air filter. Apparently a vehicle doesn't run correctly without a clean one.)

I feel like singing the pull-ups theme song...."I'm a big girl now". Don't judge, it was a big accomplishment okay?

We love concerts!

A little over a month ago my besti called me up and asked me if I would like to attend the Miranda Lambert, Chris Young and Jarrod Niemann concert with her this Friday of March 16th....is that even a question?! (oh I apologize for the horrible picture quality, we both forgot our cameras so the cell phone pics will have to do) We haven't had a chance to do something just us for a long time and I loved having some quality girl time and catching up. Fern and I have a timeless friendship which I will always be so thankful for. How I do love my besti.
We had UNBELIEVABLY GREAT SEATS. Floor, center section, row 8. Loved every second of this musical entertainment.
One comment for Mr. Chris Young......WILL YOU MARRY ME PLEASE?! Because I wouldn't mind waking up to you each and every morning if you would sing to me everyday.

Miranda was AMAZING! I always appreciate an artist that gets involved with the crowd and knows how to get people involved with just being a good human being and she did just this. Plus she has an awesome voice and some songs that are favorites of mine.
At the end they all sang a song together which was fun. Thanks for the good time besti!

Gettin' our hike on

I suppose it's time to play catch up now since spring break is almost over. While we were all in Cannonville this last Thursday we decided to go for a hike out a Kodachrome and have a little picnic. Cambri and Kagen love their Grandpa Buddah though and wanted to take a walk over to the cemetery with him before we left....isn't this the cutest picture ever?!
We feasted up upon wonderful food that the blessed hands of my sister Janice made. She is a fantabulous cook and someday I aspire to be just like her.
The kids saw a blue bird hovering our food and wanted to share with him....too cute?!

This picture pretty much sums up our personalities......

The kids love when Gram and Grandps are around because they get spoiled endlessly! And they totally deserve it. Gosh I love these kiddos-even if they want nothing to do with me when Grandpa and Grandma have way more fun to offer them.

Oh and the nature wasn't too bad either :)

Take a backroad.

Yesterday was my last day in Blanding for Spring Break and I begged my Dad to take me for a four-wheeler ride. Thankfully my dad knows every back road in San Juan County (aka God's country) and we had a good time exploring the back roads.

Oh how blessed I am to call this place home!

Today we took the back roads of Southern Utah to get to Cannonville to see the cuties pictured below. Some of the best memories I have with my Dad are of us road trippin'. We both love music so we love to turn it up loud when we're in the car and pretend we're at our own concert. That wasn't even a joke. I caught him in the middle of one of our "jams" for this pic...teeheehee.

Watch out boys.

Today consisted of me learning many things from the greatest man I know who is pictured below. He has so much patience with me and answered all my dumb, annoying questions. I thank my dear daddy for the wonderful day of Daddy-Daughter wonderfulness!

We started out with him teaching me the basics about my car (how to change a tire, check the oil and other fluids). Then he taught me how to clean out drains in the sink and the shower. When I mentioned I didn't own any tools to clean out said drains with I thought he might faint. So we took a little jaunt out to the cabinet shop and he loaded me up my own bag of tools...yay!
And here come the real reason I say WATCH OUT BOYS....The fam took a nice little outing to the gravel pits and shot a variety of guns. I got many pointers from the Pops and have improved my aim significantly. I also want to add that both of my parents are GREAT shots, spesh the pops.

We shot a bunch of rounds of shot guns (20 and 12 gauge). I thoroughly enjoyed that but true joy came when I found the gun of my dreams...a 30-30! This is me giving my Pops a high five after I blew up a water jug. His chuckle when I did so was thoroughly amusing. The picture below captures my true feelings while shooting the gun.

Lastly we shot the 9mm handgun and I will admit I have a lot of room to improve with a handgun...but I still look pretty alright with it in my hands right?

This is me receiving advice...willingly I might add.
Had to take a family photo for the day. I sure do love these guys! Glad we got to spend some quality time together this wonderful spring day.
You thought I had maxed out my learning capacity for the day didn't you??

Next I got to clean the guns and I super loved this experience as well. My dad has a lot of what I like to call tricks to life. Some of them contained in the way he takes care of his guns. He has taught me to appreciate the value of such amazingly valuable things in life and for this I can never thank him enough. I hope to continue to learn these tricks to life so I can turn out to be half the individual he is.

I LOVED TODAY.

I heart...

 I heart Sundays:

I love Sunday's because I get to do things that I might not have time for in the week and they are relaxing and help me be a happier Kara.

I heart Cheesecake:

I've never been one to eat cake, so for birthdays I always request cheesecake because it's so delicous! I have a real bad sweet tooth and this is good proof of it...cheesecake for no reason but a craving :) Yum!

I heart mail:

I love to get mail. Probs one of my single most favorite things ever. When I get a letter in the mail I'm like a kid again. So selfishly I write some of my missionary friends and wait for their reply! Truthfully I just have some really great friends on missions and I love to hear from them...it's just a bonus that I love mail so much.
 I heart coloring:

I like to color. I however am not an addict...although it's a good possibility in the future years of my life. Yeah I know it's something that baby tots do, but I'm really not artistic so being able to color inside the lines makes me feel pretty accomplished. So once in awhile I send my wonderful coloring projects to my missionary friends. If nothing else they'll have a good laugh right?
 I heart reading:

I have always loved to read. Something I get from my Mama. Plus I'm a hopeless romantic so most books on my new Kindle Fire are surely romance novels. If anyone has any good book suggestions I'm always up for a good read. Plus I love having my scriptures on here and conference talks and the church magazines. Makes for good spiritual up-lift-ment anywhere I go.
And I also miss these girlies even though it's only been a few short days since I have seen them. Let's just say inside jokes aren't as funny when you're by yourself.

You're probably wondering.....

You're probably wondering a lot of things right now. Perchance you're wondering about the bipolar weather in the lovely state of Utah? Perhaps your wondering why the sky is blue and the clouds look like elephants? Or maybe you're wondering why the individual in line in front of you at the grocery store is buying so many bottles of ranch dressing? Or maybe you're wondering what to consume for your mid-afternoon snack? Or possibly, just possibly you're wondering why the name of my blog is so unique....just maybe you're wondering that. Let me help you out with a visual.........

Surely enough that is me (all five foot nothing of me) on my shaweet beach cruisin bike. I know what you're thinking, a beach cruisin bike isn't going to do you any good in Utah because you ain't even close to a shore line anywhere. I'll let you in a little secret....I don't care, I just like the look of the bike and riding it around town on a sunny afternoon letting the wind blow through my hair. So with that being said.................

LET IT BE SPRING!!! So I can ride my bike darnit!

Alright really the point I was trying to make is that little 'ol me just loves to ride this big wheeled bike even if it look like a "tike-on-a-bike". I mean how many of us loved these things back in the day??

I simply found a big kid version and I will enjoy it to my hearts content this sunny season! (And yes when I ride my bike around I have the same expression on my face as this cute little boy)
